California County Agricultural CommissionersThe California County Agricultural Commissioners are the enforcement agents for state and federal regulations concerning Phytophthora ramorum. They are responsible for regulatory certification, inspection and other enforcement activities within the counties. In the infested counties, regulated activities include greenwaste disposal, firewood sale and distribution, biomass and landfill
facilities, utility line clearing, and survey and inspection for nurseries. Agricultural Commissioners also enforce pesticide regulations. All agricultural operations are regulated by the local Agricultural Commissioner for all activities except commercial timber harvesting. Commercial timber harvesting on public and private forest lands is regulated by the California Department
of Forestry and Fire Protection. On federal lands, the agency responsible for land management is the enforcer. The County Agricultural Commissioner is the best source for answers to specific regulatory questions. |
